
Sherry Blevins - Program Director, Voice and Piano
Ms. Blevins is currently a sought-after clinician conducting honor choirs and leading workshops on choral techniques and motivating singers across the Southeastern United States. She has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a concentration in voice
from UNC-Greensboro and a Master’s degree in Music Education with a concentration in Choral Conducting from Appalachian State University where she also taught undergraduate music methods.
Ms. Blevins has taught music at the middle and elementary levels including the
performing arts elementary school in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from 1992-2008.
She has worked with the Charlotte Children's Choir since 1998 as Associate Director
and most recently, directs neighborhood choirs in under-served areas of
Charlotte-Mecklenburg County. Ms. Blevins is also the Music Director of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, leading the adult, youth, and children's choirs. As of January of this year, she accepted a position as Academic Consultant for the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University.
Some of Ms. Blevins' proudest professional accomplishments are being nominated by
her Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools colleagues as their state nominee for teacher of the year; earning straight superiors in every category from every judge at last year's choral festival; and co-writing and directing the music as well as singing the lead vocals for the educational film, "Ready, Set, Go" which is being released to every district across the
state this year. She has also enjoyed leading classroom management workshops for her district and serving as cooperating teacher for several student teachers.
